SCB Honours Long-Serving Praslin Firefighters as Part of its 45th Anniversary Celebrations

Seychelles Commercial Bank (SCB) honoured a group of six long-serving firefighters based on Praslin in recognition of their years of dedicated service and unwavering commitment to protecting the Praslin community during a special ceremony held on Wednesday, 1st July 2026. The event was attended by SCB's Praslin Branch Manager, along with other SCB staff members.

The recognition ceremony, held at the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency (SFRSA) at Baie Ste Anne, highlighted SCB's continued commitment to giving back to the community while celebrating individuals whose dedication and service have made a lasting contribution to the nation. The initiative forms part of the Bank's year-long programme of activities commemorating its 45th Anniversary.

A special tribute was paid to the firefighters for their courageous response during the recent Fond Azore bush fire, where they worked tirelessly under extremely challenging conditions to safeguard lives, property, and the natural environment. Their determination, professionalism, and resilience throughout the operation were commended as exemplary public service.

Speaking on behalf of SCB, Ms Lubna Barbe said the recognition was a small token of appreciation for the sacrifices firefighters make every day in protecting the Praslin community. She also expressed the Bank's sincere gratitude for their courage, professionalism, and selfless dedication throughout their years of service.

"Your dedication, courage and unwavering commitment to protecting our communities deserve our deepest respect and appreciation. Your professionalism and resilience, particularly during the recent Fond Azore bush fire, have not gone unnoticed," she said.

The Bank thanked each recipient for their years of loyal and dedicated service, expressing the hope that the recognition would encourage them to continue inspiring others through their commitment, professionalism, and strong sense of duty. Mr Peter Cherry, Assistant Divisional Officer based on Praslin, was also present at the ceremony.
