SCB Donates Digital Screen to English River Secondary School

As part of its 45th Anniversary celebrations, Seychelles Commercial Bank (SCB) has reaffirmed its commitment to education and community development through the donation of a digital screen to English River Secondary School. The handover ceremony, held on Friday, 26th June 2026, was attended by the Principal Secretary for General Education and Curriculum, Dr Justin Zelime; Executive Director Dr Linda Barallon from the Ministry of Education; and members of SCB's Executive Management.

The donation forms part of the Bank's year-long programme of corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at making a meaningful and lasting contribution to communities across Seychelles. Recognising the vital role education plays in shaping the nation's future, SCB selected English River Secondary School as the beneficiary of this initiative.

Welcoming the donation on behalf of the school, Deputy of Studies Ms Jocynta Sophola expressed her sincere appreciation to the Bank for its generous support. She noted that the digital screen would be a valuable addition to the school's teaching resources, enhancing classroom instruction, and creating a more interactive and engaging learning environment for both teachers and students.

The digital screen will also support the Ministry of Education's ongoing efforts to integrate technology into classrooms and promote digital learning. By providing teachers with modern teaching tools, it is expected to enhance lesson delivery and enrich students' learning experience.

Speaking during the ceremony, an SCB representative emphasised that investing in education is an investment in the future of Seychelles. The representative noted that the donation reflects the Bank's broader commitment to giving back to the community and supporting initiatives that contribute to national development.

Dr. Zelime highlighted that the donation comes at an opportune time as the education sector continues to embrace digital transformation. He described the digital screen as a much-needed resource that will strengthen teaching and learning by providing greater access to interactive educational tools. He also commended SCB for its continued investment in education, noting that partnerships between the private sector and schools play a vital role in improving educational outcomes and creating better opportunities for young people.
