SCB Plants 45 Trees and pays tribute to the Bank’s first CEO as part of its 45th Anniversary Celebrations

As part of its 45th anniversary celebrations, the Seychelles Commercial Bank (SCB) has launched a series of activities underscoring its commitment to environmental stewardship and its rich institutional heritage.

On Thursday, 30th April, SCB’s Board members, Senior Management, and staff gathered at the Carbon Offset Project site in the Morne Seychellois National Park for a symbolic tree planting ceremony. The event was organized in collaboration with the Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority (SPGA).

A total of 45 endemic bois de natte trees were planted, one for each year of the bank’s operations. The trees have been tagged and will be monitored as part of an ongoing environmental initiative.

“Celebrating 45 years also means celebrating the environment around us,” said Chief Executive Officer Mrs. Annie Vidot. “This is not merely a one-off activity; it is a visible pledge that our commitment to environmental responsibility will continue to grow alongside our institution.”

The initiative reflects SCB’s broader belief that sustainable growth must go hand in hand with environmental stewardship. Beyond the symbolic planting, the bank’s environmental agenda includes tree planting drives, community clean-up campaigns, paper reduction efforts, and energy efficiency improvements across its operations.

In a second commemorative event, Mrs. Annie Vidot, accompanied by a group of long‑service and current staff members, paid a special visit to Mr. Edouard Domingue, SCB’s first Chief Executive Officer. The team presented gifts as a token of appreciation in recognition of his dedicated service and foundation role in shaping the bank.

Mr. Domingue, who celebrated his 90th birthday in February this year, reminisced with the team about the bank’s early days, recalling how several principles established remain in practice today.  The visit was marked by a sense of gratitude and nostalgia, with Mrs. Domingue expressing heartfelt thanks to the Bank for honoring her husband’s contribution and enduring legacy.

SCB’s 45th anniversary activities will continue throughout the year, reaffirming the bank’s commitment to both community and environmental sustainability.
